Rudi obtained his B.Eng degree in Industrial Electronic Engineering from Stellenbosch University. He was then involved with the implementation and management of various information practices on a contract basis for Capespan France. After that he managed the development and maintenance of manufacturing and configuration management systems and successfully implemented various ERP principles for a division of the Denel group. Rudi has a solid background in relational database design and development. Other areas of expertise include the development of web applications and database management systems.

After obtaining his M.Sc.Eng degree in Electronic Engineering (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University, Charl consulted on numerous industry projects on behalf of the University. He has lead various innovation, hardware and software projects.

He has worked narrowly with the University's Office for Intellectual Property / Technology Transfer Office, developing and evaluating new technologies, writing and filing patents, and managing the innovation process with Unistel Group.
